About OMS Records
OMS Records is a fun label for Bluegrass music and “Classic Country” enthusiasts.
ALL OF OUR RELEASES HAVE SOLD UNDER A MILLION COPIES TO DATE!
OMS Records is an independent record label based in Raleigh NC that features bluegrass and classic country music. The label was founded in 1999. The label’s inaugural release was by the legendary Benny Martin who was coaxed by his friend and OMS Records founder Hugh Moore from a long retirement to record a two-part masterpiece for the label entitled “The ‘Big Tiger’ Roars Again.” Benny died at 72 on March 13, 2001
The second release was in 2000 by Grand Ole Opry star Johnny Russell who died in 2001. Johnny had been a popular host of the grand Ole Opry and was a hit making songwriter. “Actin’ Naturally” was a natural sophomore release for OMS Records, and was a critically-acclaimed all-acoustic rendering of Johnny’s famous song repertoire, and featured guests including Earl Scruggs, Marty Stuart, and Buck Owens.
The label continued to release 3-4 releases a year during the early 2000”s, including high profile releases by legends like fiddle legends Vassar Clements and Kenny Baker, singer Bobby Osborne, Dobro(tm) king Josh Graves. In addition, there were releases by lesser known artists Pam Gadd, Billy Troy, and Bill Henry. As of December 2010 the company is winding down the active distribution of physical product.
In its short history, the label released what may be remembered as some of the most creative recordings of acoustic and classic country music. We are proud of each release to date.
Linda Moore runs the company and is the primary contact for retailers, artists, and customers. The goal for the company is to continue to release a few high quality releases each year. We didn’t try or achieve any records with our sales, and we proudly boast of “under a million sold” on each of our releases to date.
We hope you will enjoy our music and our website and that you will want to purchase all of our releases. After all, if we are going to continue to sell “under a million,” we need the support of loyal listeners like you.
Thanks for listening!
